PROVINCIAL DISASTER STRIKES – INFRACON SOLUTIONS MOBILIZES
QUICKLY TO ASSIST NOOAITCH FIRST NATIONS

On Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, massive rainfall caused devasting flooding across southwest B.C., knocking out bridges and food supply chains to local Indigenous groups.

The Nooaitch First Nations, a community of 7,000, located near Merritt, B.C. was left completely isolated without power, food, internet, or cell service.

Infracon Solutions, along with Lower Nicola Site Services (LNSS), a partnership between Infracon and the Lower Nicola Indian Band Corp., quickly and proactively took the initiative to help out. The group was working on the Trans Mountain Expansion Project, in the area of the Coquihalla Hwy., the main artery that connects Vancouver to the rest of Canada. It was able to switch gears within hours to mobilize equipment and people.

On Nov. 19 they quickly began earthworks and construction to rebuild the washed-out bridge, connecting the community to the main arteries, a feat which took three days, enabling Trans Mountain to truck in needed essentials to the Nooaitch First Nations’ community.
